Porto winger Yacine Brahimi is said to be a target for Premier League giants Everton again – but is a move to Goodison Park finally going to happen?
Two years after The Mirror reported that Everton failed with a £33.6 million bid to bring Yacine Brahimi to Goodison Park, the Toffees are said to be planning a new move for Porto’s Algerian winger.
Turkish publication A Spor reported last week that The Toffees were still interested in signing Brahimi, and were ready to go head-to-head with Besiktas to sign the former Granada attacker on a cut price deal before his contract expires next summer. And A Bola now appear to have given Everton the upper hand.
The report states that Brahimi doesn’t have the slightest interest in a transfer to Turkey – but recognises that the Premier League would be an excellent move for his career, and give him far more exposure than he’d get in Besiktas. So Everton, then, have been given a real boost as they attempt for a second time to sign Brahimi.
Brahimi is understood to have a release clause at Porto of around £55 million but, should the current Primeira Liga leaders decide to cash in, he would be available for far less due to the fact he will be a free agent in 12 months’ time.
Everton do have a number of creative talents in their squad already, but Brahimi offers something different – the ability to run at and commit defenders at high speed and play in a number of attacking positions.
The 28-year-old has scored ten goals and produced another ten assists in all competitions for Porto this season.
