Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck is reportedly a target for Wolverhampton Wanderers and Everton.
Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in signing Danny Welbeck when his contract at Arsenal expires but Everton are in pole position as things stand, according to the Standard.
The England international is set to be on the move this summer, five years after he joined Arsenal from Manchester United in a £16 million deal (BBC). After missing much of 2018/19 with a broken ankle, The Gunners have decided against extending a deal that runs out in July.
And despite Welbeck’s history of injury problems, he is not short of offers.
The Standard claims that Wolves, West Ham United, Newcastle and Crystal Palace have all expressed an interest in the 28-year-old, who scored a hat-trick in a behind-closed-doors friendly for Arsenal last week.
But Everton are at the front of the queue and are willing to offer Welbeck an increase on his current £100,000 a week contract.
And the report adds that the Manchester-born forward is keen on reuniting with his former Arsenal team-mate Theo Walcott at Goodison Park.
Everton have lacked a top quality centre-forward since Romelu Lukaku left for Old Trafford two years ago and may will be hoping that Welbeck thrives in his favoured striker position after spending most of his time at Arsenal shunted out on the wing.
