Report: Wolves trigger buyout clause of Egypt’s Trezeguet

Mahmoud Hassan’s performances for Egypt at the World Cup appear to have caught the eye of Premier League newcomers Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Mahmoud Hassan was always going to be a player in the spotlight at this summer’s World Cup.

The Sun stated back in April that the Egyptian winger was on the radar of both Everton and Bournemouth, on the back of his fine displays in the Turkish Super Lig last season during a loan spell at Kasimpasa.

But, according to Hurriyet, the speedy forward more commonly known as Trezeguet due to his resemblance to the former France striker has another Premier League side interested now.

It is understood that Wolves have offered around £4.5 million for Trezeguet; a fee that would trigger his buyout clause at parent club Anderlecht. And the report adds that they have offered him a contract of just over £20,000 a week.

Wolves, however, are not at the front of the queue right now. Galatasaray, who won the Turkish Super Lig title last season, are the favourites to sign 23-year-old Trezeguet.

He scored an excellent 13 goals and produced another six assists in Turkey’s top flight in 2017/18 and started all three of Egypt’s games at the World Cup, where they suffered defeats to Uruguay, Russia and Saudi Arabia.

Based on his performances in Russia, Trezeguet is a raw talent whose feet are sometimes a little faster than his brain. Working alongside Nuno Espirito Santo at Molineux, however, could iron out those kinks.
