Long-serving defender Dominic Iorfa might never make a Premier League appearance for Nuno Espirito Santo’s Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Dominic Iorfa’s lifelong association with Wolverhampton Wanderers could be about to come to an end.

The 23-year-old centre-back has fallen completely out of favour since Nuno Espirito Santo took over at Molineux in the summer of 2017, and he has not been included in any of Wolves’ nine Premier League squads so far this season.

With Willy Boly, Connor Coady and Ryan Bennett established as Wolves’ first choice back three, and with a January move for Aberdeen’s Scott McKenna allegedly on the cards, it seems unlikely that Iorfa will be offered a chance any time soon.

The Birmingham Mail reports that the England U21 international has been ‘cast aside’ by Nuno and has been training with the reserves, with Wolves ready and waiting to cash in during the January transfer window.

So it seems that Iorfa has already played his 93rd and final game for the Black Country side.

There is no shortage of players who would have expressed their disappointment about being left in limbo, but it is a credit to Iorfa’s professionalism that he has kept quiet and gone about his business in the background.

“Dom has been really mature about his situation. He knows what he has to do. He knows what the plan will be for him this season,” Wolves U23 coach Rob Edwards told the Birmingham Mail.

“Dom knows no other way than giving 100 percent. He’s in every single day talking to the lads, working with them and leading them.

“It’s probably a difficult period for him at the moment but I’ve been so happy and so pleased with him.”
