Report: Wolves now favourites to land Anderson Talisca after Besiktas deal collapses

Premier League Wolverhampton Wanderers have been linked with Benfica attacker Anderson Talisca since 2016.

Wolverhampton Wanderers’ two year wait to sign Brazil playmaker Anderson Talisca looked destined to end in disappointment this summer.

The highly-coveted Samba star has spent the last two years on loan at Besiktas from Benfica, helping the Istanbul giants win the Turkish Super Lig title in 2017. And it was understood that Senol Gunes’ side had the option to sign Talisca on a permanent basis at the end of his second season on the Bosporus.

But, according to A Bola, that deal has now fallen through. There had been doubts about Besiktas’ ability to meet Benfica’s £18.3 million asking price, previous reports suggesting that they were hoping to pay the figure in six instalments.

And the Portuguese press have now reported that Talisca will not be a Besiktas player next season with the Turkish giants simply unable to afford the fee.

Excellent news, then, for Wolves.

Because A Bola (18^th May, back page) is also reporting that Wolves are now the frontrunners to land Talisca’s signature this summer with the 24-year-old still expected to be sold by Benfica.

Italian giants Roma are understood to be keen on an attacker who notched 19 goals in 46 appearances in 2017/18 but Wolves, thanks to their connections to super-agent Jorge Mendes who tends to dominate the Portuguese market, have a clear advantage.

So with Wolves’ Chinese owners prepared to spend big, don’t be surprised to see the long wait for Talisca come to an end.
