FC Porto have reportedly reduced Moussa Marega’s price tag as Wolverhampton Wanderers circle.

Nuno Espirito Santo, the Wolves manager looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Millwall and Wolverhampton at The Den on December 26, 2017 in London, England.

If Aston Villa join local rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League next season, expect a lot of money to be splashed around in the Midlands.

Wolves have some of the most ambitious owners in English football right now in Chinese billionaires Fosun International, while Aston Villa have a backer from the Far East too in the affable Dr Tony Xia.

Financial Fair Play meant Villa were unable to show off their financial might this season but, if they beat Fulham in the play-off final at Wembley this month, the claret and blues will surely spend heavily over the summer.

And according to Portuguese paper CM, Wolves and Aston Villa could go head-to-head to sign the Porto striker Moussa Marega this summer in what would be a real statement of intent from the potentially returning Midland giants.

Marega scored 22 goals in the Primeira Liga in 2017/18 as Porto ended their five-year wait for a league title, but it looks likely that he will be on his way this summer.

Porto need to sell in order to avoid FFP sanctions and have slapped a £26 million price-tag on his head, understood to be around £10 million less than his buy-out clause.

Wolves might have an advantage due to Jorge Mendes’ connections at Porto.

They signed Ruben Neves, Willy Boly and Diogo Jota from Porto last summer while manager Nuno Espirito Santo arrived from the Dragao, too.
