Wolverhampton Wanderers are in talks to bring former Chelsea defender Filipe Luis back to the Premier League this summer, according to Goal.

The 38-time Brazilian international appears to be coming to the end of a stellar spell at Atletico Madrid with his contract expiring this summer.

In two stints with Los Colchoneros, Luis has won six trophies including the 2014 La Liga title and the Europa League 12 months ago.

And, even at the age of 33, he remains as reliable and influential as ever, having featured 32 times for Diego Simeone’s side in 2018/19.

Goal believes that Wolves are in talks to snap up one of Europe’s very best left-backs of the last ten years while Paris Saint-Germain are also keen to bring the veteran to Ligue 1.

A disappointing 2014/15 season in the Premier League at Chelsea is one blot on Luis’ reputation, however.

The Blues paid £15.8 million to bring him to Stamford Bridge (BBC) but, unlike Thibaut Courtois and Diego Costa, he failed to make an impression at Chelsea after arriving from Atletico Madrid.

He made just 15 appearances in England’s top flight before returning to the Spanish capital.
