Report: Wolves in negotiations to sign Raul Jimenez on loan

Another Mendes client is reportedly heading to Molineux with Raul Jimenez reportedly set to join Premier League newcomers Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Raul Jimenez is tipped to move to England almost every summer.

And, with the striker represented by none other than Jorge Mendes, it seemed inevitable that Wolverhampton Wanderers would be linked at some point.

O Jogo are reporting that Wolves are in negotiations with Benfica over potentially signing the 27-year-old on loan for their first Premier League campaign in six years.

It is understood that Wolves will pay just shy of £5 million to keep Jimenez for the season, which is far less than the £35 million Benfica president Luis Felipe Vieira would demand for a permanent deal, O Jogo adds.

The one-time Atletico Madrid loanee has never been a first-team regular at Benfica. He managed just 12 Primeira Liga starts in two years at the Estadio da Luz, with the evergreen Brazilian Jonas firmly established as the club’s first choice forward.

And with South American duo Facundo Ferreyra and Nicolas Castillo arriving from Shakhtar and Pumas UNAM respectively, Jimenez was set to fall further down the pecking order for Rui Vitoria’s side.

Jimenez will join fellow Mendes clients Ruben Neves, Diogo Jota, Helder Costa and Ivan Cavaleiro at Wolves while Sporting Lisbon goalkeeper Rui Patricio is expected to arrive, too.
