Report: Wolves have made a decision about Leo Bonatini’s future

Leo Bonatini starred in his first few months at Molineux but will he be playing Premier League football for Wolverhampton Wanderers?

It all started so well for Leo Bonatini at Molineux.

After joining Wolves on loan from Saudi outfit Al Hilal last summer, the Brazilian striker did not wait around to show off his poaching skills in English football. Bonatini scored 12 goals by early December as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side stormed to the top of the table.

In the midst of his prolific purple patch, Bonatini admitted to Sky Sports that he would love to stay at Wolves full-time. And it was understood that the Chinese-funded Black Country club had the option to sign the former Sao Paulo forward for a bargain fee of around £5 million, as reported by the Birmingham Mail.

But it seems that Bonatini’s dramatic dip in form might have cost him the chance to stay at Molineux for another season.

According to the Express and Star, Wolves are set to sign fellow loanees Willy Boly and Diogo Jota on permanent deals while Benik Afobe, Ruben Vinagre and Alfred N’Diaye could all stay for next season’s assault on the Premier League.

The report, however, adds that Wolves will send Bonatini back to Al Hilal and it seems that his dream of wearing the old gold in England’s top flight next season are over.

And, in reality, this was coming. Bonatini embarked on a remarkable barren run after claiming the winner at Birmingham City on 4 December . He did not score in any of his last 25 games for Wolves and now seems to have played his final game for the club.
