Report: Wolves have made a decision about Alfred N’Diaye’s future

Alfred N’Diaye helped Wolverhampton Wanderers win the Championship but he will not be given a chance in the Premier League.

Villarreal will play a pre-season friendly against Wolverhampton Wanderers in August but could Alfred N’Diaye be wearing yellow rather than gold?

The midfielder spent last season on loan at Molineux from the La Liga club, helping Wolves win the Championship title and seal a return to the Premier League. But, while fellow loanees Benik Afobe, Diogo Jota and Willy Boly have already signed permanent contracts with the Black Country giants, N’Diaye’s future remains up in the air.

AS reported in May that there was a clause in N’Diaye’s contract which stated that Wolves would have to sign him permanently for £8 million if he played a certain number of games.

But, interestingly, he started to be phased out towards the end of the season as he approached the figure that would trigger a permanent move. Were Wolves attempting to back out of the deal?

It seems so. Because AS has now provided an update, stating that N’Diaye will return to Villarreal to begin pre-season training on July 9.

It is understood that the 28-year-old Senegal international will be given a chance to resurrect a Villarreal career that has never really taken off since his arrival from Real Betis in the summer of 2016.

Coach Javier Calleja wants to see N’Diaye on a day-to-day basis, with a hole opening up in his midfield after the departure of Rodri to Atletico Madrid.

Wolves have been linked with a number of highly-rated midfielders in recent weeks, which suggests that they feel they can upgrade N’Diaye.
