Premier League newcomers Wolverhampton Wanderers want Sardar Azmoun, as do Everton, Fulham, Celtic and Leicester City.

The race to sign Sardar Azmoun is on, and, at the moment, it seems that Wolverhampton Wanderers are out in front.

The Sunday People (22nd April, page 48) reported that the 23-year-old Rubin Kazan striker was a target for a number of sides this summer with Wolves, Fulham and Leicester City all admirers while Everton and Celtic, who were linked last summer, still keen too.

But latest reports provided by TEAMtalk claim that Nuno Espirito Santo’s Championship winners are currently at the front of the queue.

Azmoun, the so-called ‘Iranian Messi’, is understood to have his eyes set on a move to England and Wolves are currently leading the chase ahead of what is likely to be an exciting transfer window at Molineux.

Wolves have some of the richest and most ambitious owners in England so the Black Country giants would have little trouble meeting Azmoun’s price-tag. The Scottish Sun stated last year, when Celtic were heavily linked, that the versatile forward would cost at least £10 million.

Interestingly, TEAMtalk adds that Celtic are still keen on signing Azmoun, perhaps due to doubts about the future of Moussa Dembele and PSG loanee Odsonne Edouard.

But it seems that any attempts to bring him to Parkhead could be scuppered by Wolves, who are expected to spend big and make a splash this summer.
