Danny Batth spent the first half of the Championship season at Middlesbrough, on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Long-serving Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Danny Batth is edging closer to a £3.5 million move to Stoke City, according to the Express and Star.
Nathan Jones seems determined to solve Stoke’s defensive deficiencies with a new signing in the final week of the January transfer window with the Sun (27 January, page 61) claiming that the Potters were looking at Portsmouth’s Matt Clarke and Barnsley’s Liam Lindsay.
But it seems that Batth has emerged as the most likely addition.
The Express and Star claim that the 28-year-old captain is set to leave Wolves on a permanent basis, having spent the first half of the season on loan at Middlesbrough.

Stoke are ready to pay £3.5 million for Batth, who was born in nearby Brierley Hill and joined Wolves’ academy all the way back in the year 2000.
He was in and out of the side as Nuno Espirito Santo led Wolves to the Championship title last season but was farmed out to Middlesbrough after being deemed surplus to requirements at Molineux.
Batth failed to establish himself at the Riverside, however, starting just eight league games.
