Report: Wolves want to sign Victor Lindelof with Manchester United considering offers

Premier League giants Manchester United paid Benfica £31m for centre-back Victor Lindelof last summer but he could now join Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Sun stated last month that Manchester United were willing to loan out their £31 million centre-back Victor Lindelof this summer after a difficult debut season in English football.

It was reported that a number of Premier League clubs had enquired about signing the Sweden international. And, at the time, it seemed almost certain that Wolverhampton Wanderers would be among them.

After all, Lindelof’s agent is none other than Jorge Mendes, the transfer market string-puller who has a very close relationship with Wolves’ Chinese owners and who paved the way for Ruben Neves, Helder Costa and co to move to Molineux.

And it seems that Wolves are indeed in the chase for Lindelof after all.

Because TEAMtalk are reporting that Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have contacted United about signing the centre-back this summer and are happy to take him either on loan or in a permanent deal.

And it is understood that Jose Mourinho is seriously considering their offer with the Manchester United boss keen to sign a new centre-back this summer, such as Raphael Varane or Samuel Umtiti, in a move that would push the already out-of-favour Lindelof further down the pecking order.

The report adds that Wolves are confident of doing a deal for the 23-year-old, who looked a nervous wreck at times in his first few months in Manchester and never managed to secure a regular place in Mourinho’s starting XI.
