Has Tammy Abraham played his final game for Aston Villa?

Dean Smith would love to keep the prolific Chelsea loanee at Villa Park for the rest of the season but it seems more likely than ever that he is on his way out after scoring 16 goals in just 20 Championship starts.

Villa’s Midland rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers are keen to offer Abraham the chance to play regular Premier League football with The Sun reporting that they are willing to offer him a £120,000-a-week contract while allegedly offering a transfer fee of £18 million.

And The Evening Standard has provided an update on the situation on Monday, claiming that Wolves are confident of sealing the deal for Abraham at some point this week.

Rather than a potentially club-record permanent deal, however, the Standard believes that the England international will move to Molineux on loan as Chelsea have no interest in selling one of their most promising youngsters.

It had been suggested that a January switch could be scuppered by FIFA rules which prevent players from featuring in competitive games for more than two different clubs in a single season.

Abraham’s one and only Chelsea appearance in 2018/19 came in the Community Shield and it is understood that Wolves believe this does not count as a ‘competitive’ fixture.
