Wolverhampton Wanderers have included a clause in Alfred N’Diaye’s contract allowing them to make his loan permanent at the end of the season.
Alfred N’Diaye will be hoping his season-long loan spell at Wolverhampton Wanderers goes better than his two previous stints in English football.
The rangy midfielder played just 16 times in two years at Sunderland after being brought over to Wearside as part of much-maligned director of football Roberto di Fanti’s disastrous recruitment drive in the summer of 2012.
And although he impressed during a loan spell at Hull City in the second half of last season, scoring in a 2-0 win over Liverpool, he was unable to save the Tigers from relegation.
However, this did not put Wolves off from making N’Diaye their latest and last summer signing 51 minutes before the window closed, as reported by The Express and Star.
Thrown to the Wolves
As it stands, the 27-year-old will spend the season at Molineux after failing to make an impression at Villarreal, and Spanish publication AS report that he could make the move permanent for £8.2 million. However, for this to happen, Wolves need to earn promotion to the Premier League and N’Diaye must make a minimum of 25 appearances in all competitions.
Furthermore, if Wolves are promoted and decide against signing N’Diaye on a permanent basis, they have to pay Villarreal a ‘fine’ of around £2 million. Either way, the La Liga club will be making some money from a player who struggled to prove his worth after joining from Real Betis last summer.
As it stands, Wolves are making good on the first part of the deal, sitting fourth in the Championship after winning three of their first five league games.
And they now expect N’Diaye to be a regular feature in the engine room.
