Championship side Aston Villa loaned Robert Snodgrass from Premier League club West Ham United last summer.

Aston Villa’s best laid plans have gone dramatically, dreadfully awry.
The Midland giants new the costs of losing the Championship play-off final to Fulham would be huge and, thanks to Tom Cairney’s winner at Wembley, Villa are now having to deal with the worrying aftermath.
According to the Telegraph, another season in the Championship puts Villa at real risk of breaking Financial Fair Play rules, which could even result in a transfer embargo. So, with funds tighter than ever, the report adds that permanent deals for loan stars such as Sam Johnstone, Lewis Grabban and Robert Snodgrass will be scrapped.

And it seems the latter has been hit very hard by this.

The report states that £10million-rated Snodgrass will be sold by West Ham this summer and he had his heart set on staying in the second city. But, with Villa needing to raise £40 million to avoid FFP sanctions, they will now be unable to afford a permanent deal for a player who scored seven goals and notched 14 assists last season.
It is understood that Snodgrass was a hugely popular figure in the dressing room, too, meaning he will be missed both on and off the pitch.
