Martin Samuelsen has not made a single Premier League appearance since joining West Ham United from Manchester City in 2015.

West Ham United’s forgotten man Martin Samuelsen is set to return to his native Norway with FK Haugesund, according to local paper Haugesund Avis.

A skilful winger, the 21-year-old was tipped for big things in claret and blue after joining the Hammers from Manchester City in 2015. But Samuelsen has played just two games for West Ham and has spent much of his time at the club out on loan, spending time at Blackburn Rovers, Peterborough United and Burton Albion.

He is currently plying his trade in the Eredivisie with VVV Venlo but has failed to make an impact on the continent.

Samuelsen has played just one minute of football in VVV’s last eight league games, having failed to score in ten matches for the club.

TV2 reports that his loan spell in Holland is likely to be cancelled with a return to Norway on the cards in the next few days, although it is uncertain whether this will be another loan or a permanent move.

Samuelsen was born in Haugestad and could be set to move back to his hometown. The Arabs finished fourth in the 16-team Eliteserien last season.
