Danny Drinkwater looks set to leave Chelsea after just one season and Premier League rivals West Ham United could offer him an escape route.

Danny Drinkwater was warned by fans and pundits alike when he swapped Leicester City for Chelsea last summer that he would find first-team football hard to come by at Stamford Bridge, with Cesc Fabregas, N’Golo Kante and fellow new signing Tiemoue Bakayoko all fighting for a place in Antonio Conte’s first XI.

And, unsurprisingly, Drinkwater has failed to make much of an impact. In truth, he has been one of the most forgettable signings of 2017 and, as a result, looks to have lost any hope of forcing his way into England’s World Cup squad.
Although ever since admitting his frustration at Chelsea, London rivals West Ham United have been tipped to offer him an escape route.
And the Telegraph now goes as far as to say that the Hammers are one of the clubs willing to pay £30 million for the 2016 Premier League champion this summer, exceeding the £24 million they paid for Stoke City’s Marko Arnautovic.

The report adds that a number of senior players could be sold by Chelsea this summer with Drinkwater possibly joined by Pedro, Marco van Ginkel, Kurt Zouma, Kenedy and Lucas Piazon.
