West Bromwich Albion will sell Salomon Rondon with West Ham United reportedly keen.

West Ham United are set to offer £12 million as they look to tempt West Bromwich Albion to cash in on Salomon Rondon, according to the Mirror (5 July, page 60).

The Hammers’ search for a new striker goes on in earnest and they are arguably more desperate than ever with Marko Arnautovic being reluctantly granted his belated move to China. Apparently, if you throw your toys out the pram and complain loudly enough, you will get what you want in this day and age.

And with potential deals for Alexsandar Mitrovic and Maxi Gomez hitting the buffers, the Mirror reports that West Ham will make another attempt to bring Venezuela target man Rondon to the London Stadium.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side will bid £12 million after seeing an offer of £2 million less, plus Jordan Hugill and Sam Byram, rejected late last month.

Considering that Rondon scored a career-high 11 Premier League goals during a loan spell at Newcastle last season, the 29-year-old would give West Ham a proven, reliable option at the front of their forward line.

Gomez, who would cost around £30 million more, might be younger and more of a long-term solution but no one knows how he’d settle in England, even if his powerful physique appears to stand him in good stead.

West Brom’s technical director, Luke Dowling, recently told the Express and Star that Rondon would be sold with one year left on his contract.
