Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha reportedly has a new Premier League admirer in the shape of West Ham United.
West Ham United could have one of the Premier League’s most exciting forward lines next season with new signings Felipe Anderson and Andriy Yarmolenko flanking the repurposed centre-forward Marko Arnautovic.
So West Ham’s failure to bring in Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace doesn’t seem too damaging.
Zaha has emerged as one of the Premier League’s most influential attacking players in recent seasons to put himself on the radar of some of the biggest clubs in English football. Until now, however, there had been no real mention of interest from West Ham.
But The Mirror claims that The Hammers are indeed interested in the former Manchester United man, who has told Crystal Palace that he is keen to leave this summer after rejecting a contract worth £125,000 a week.
The report, however, adds that West Ham have baulked at Crystal Palace’s valuation, which is perhaps understandable when you consider that The Eagles will demand £60 million for their talisman.
West Ham have spent plenty of money during a terrific summer, breaking their transfer record twice for Issa Diop and £40 million Brazilian flyer Anderson.
£60 million for Zaha, however, is simply out of their reach. And with the Ivorian international having four years left on his current contract, Palace are certainly in a strong position in negotiations.
