On transfer deadline day back in January, West Ham United made an eleventh hour move to hi-jack Crystal Palace’s bid for the Lille captain Ibrahim Amadou.

According to Sky Sports, Crystal Palace made two bids for the defensive midfielder, but failed to reach the Ligue 1 side’s £17.6 million asking price. So West Ham, who had spent the entire month trying and failing to enhance their midfield options, attempted to move in for the kill.

But by the time the window shut, neither club had managed to tempt Lille into a sale.

“We pushed hard to bring in midfielder Ibrahim Amadou on loan from Lille late in the day but we could not get it over the line before time ran out,” Moyes told the Standard of the 24-year-old, who had even boarded a train to London to force through a move.

According to The Sun, however, we can expect West Ham to make another move for Amadou in just a couple of months’ time.

The report claims that the Hammers are still keen to sign the Frenchman with Moyes once again looking for midfield reinforcements. And they could be boosted by the fact that a Lille side look to be in crisis, sitting 19th in Ligue 1 need to raise £22 million to avoid Financial Fair Play sanctions.

It is also understood, via Le 10 Sport, that Crystal Palace are still interested in a player who can also fill in at centre-half while bitter rivals Brighton have also been impressed by Amadou’s availability. He could be making that trip to London again very soon.
