Charlton Athletic are reportedly trying to bring Josh Cullen back to League One from Premier League side West Ham United this summer.
Josh Cullen could be forced to wait yet another year for a chance in West Ham United’s first-team squad.
The 22-year-old has spent the last two seasons on loan at Bradford and Bolton Wanderers and he has now been lined up for another temporary spell away from the London Stadium.
According to London News Online, West Ham’s local rivals Charlton Athletic are keen to boost their midfield options and are interested in signing Cullen on loan. Former Bolton man Darren Pratley, who is now a free agent, is also understood to be a target.
This would see Cullen return to League One, having impressed in the third tier with Bradford during the 2016/17 season.
The energetic midfielder, who has made just three Premier League appearances for the Hammers, was an absolute class act at Valley Parade and quickly became a real fan favourite in Yorkshire.
He would be hoping to have a similar effect at a Charlton side who have their eyes on a return to the Championship this summer. The Addicks have already pulled off one impressive bargain signing, landing the AFC Wimbledon striker Lyle Taylor on a free despite interest from a number of other League One clubs.
Cullen, the reigning Republic of Ireland U21 Player of the Year, remains highly-rated at West Ham but is well down the pecking order, particularly after the arrival of Jack Wilshere.
If Cullen moves to The Valley, he would be coached by former West Ham midfielder Lee Bowyer.
