Alvaro Arbeloa may have lifted the Champions League trophy but that isn’t enough to impress Slaven Bilic.
Experienced defender Alvaro Arbeloa could leave West Ham in the January transfer window with interest from clubs from the Middle East and the USA, as reported by talkSPORT.
The former Real Madrid and Liverpool right-back has managed just 173 minutes of Premier League action since arriving at the London Stadium in the summer, only managing the full 90 in The Hammers’ worst performance of the season thus far, the 3-0 home defeat to Southampton in September.
West Ham boss Slaven Bilic described Arbeloa, who has La Liga and Champions League winning meals from his time at the Bernabau, as the “perfect” addition to his squad just two months ago, according to Goal, but the Spaniard now appears likely to leave the capital club midway through the campaign.
As reported by talkSPORT, teams in the Middle East and the MLS are interested in offering a lifeline to the 33-year-old.
Arbeloa told West Ham’s official website earlier this week that he was hoping that Bilic would provide him with more game time in the coming weeks but an early departure appears a better fit for all parties.
Michail Antonio has filled in to mixed effect on the right hand side of defence this season though Bilic’s selection headache will surely be eased by the expected return of Sam Byram (below) next month.
