Manuel Pellegrini’s West Ham United reportedly want to raid Premier League rivals Newcastle United for midfielder Jonjo Shelvey.

Pedro Obiang appears to be on the verge of leaving West Ham United but, according to Sky Sports, Manuel Pellegrini will not let him go until the club sign a replacement. Could the man in question be Jonjo Shelvey?
The Newcastle United midfielder has a reputation for being something of a combustible character with his attitude often overshadowing his fine footballing ability.
Nonetheless, the Express believes that West Ham’s chiefs have sanctioned a £10 million bid for Shelvey, though Newcastle are understood to have rejected the offer.
The Hammers won’t give up this easily, however. The report adds that they are expected to make a new bid with half of the January transfer window remaining.

Still only 26 years of age, Shelvey has struggled for regular minutes under Rafa Benitez this season and started just eight Premier League games. And he was once again dominating the headlines for all the wrong reasons recently, copping plenty of flak for an awful challenge on Paul Pogba during Newcastle’s 2-0 home defeat against Manchester United.
Although maybe Pellegrini is the right man to get the best out of the former Liverpool and Charlton enigma, who boasts a passing range that would make most midfielders green with envy.
