Gary Medel is reportedly keen on a return to the Premier League, but will Manuel Pellegrini’s West Ham United get their man in the January transfer window?

Besiktas are in dire financial straits right now, having released legendary Portuguese defender Pepe and making clear that they will listen to offers for Dutch international Jeremain Lens (Gazeteze).
But that does not mean West Ham will be able to sign Gary Medel on the cheap.
According to Sky Sports, the Hammers sent their representatives to Turkey on Thursday to negotiate a deal for the 31-year-old Chilean international, with Manuel Pellegrini keen to bring his tough-tackling compatriot to the London Stadium.
But Milliyet are reporting that striking a deal could be easier said than done.
It is understood that West Ham have seen a bid of around £6.5 million rejected, with Besiktas coach Senol Gunes keen to keep the former Inter Milan and Sevilla midfielder in Istanbul.

But, with Medel allegedly open to a return to the Premier League having spent the 2013/14 season at Cardiff City, it seems this is a story that could rumble on over the coming weeks with the January transfer window now on the horizon.
Medel, who shone as Chile won the Copa America in both 2015 and 2016, would offer steel and experience in front of an often shaky Hammers’ back line.
