West Ham United might need two goalkeepers this summer and are reportedly planning to raid Premier League rivals Burnley for either Pope or Tom Heaton.

Lukasz Fabianski of Swansea City cries as he leaves the pitch during the Premier League match between Swansea City and Stoke City at Liberty Stadium on May 13, 2018 in Swansea, Wales.

West Ham United have been linked with an extensive array of goalkeepers this summer but Lukas Fabianski had seemingly emerged as the favourite in recent days.

Sky Sports reported that the Hammers were in talks with the Swansea City shot-stopper, who should cost a bargain fee with just one year left on his contract. But Fabianski might not be the only new goalkeeper at the London Stadium this summer.

Joe Hart has already left, returning to Manchester City upon the expiry of his loan spell, and it is common knowledge that Adrian is keen on a return to Spain this summer. So that could leave new manager Manuel Pellegrini with the unenviable task of signing two goalkeepers in one transfer window.

And Football London report that there is a couple of names in the frame. Stoke City’s Jack Butland and Tom Heaton of Burnley have been linked previously but there are now new links to the latter’s Turf Moor teammate Nick Pope.

Pope was a revelation in 2017/18 as Burnley qualified for the Europa League.

The former Charlton ‘keeper had barely been seen in Clarets’ colours before Heaton suffered a dislocated shoulder against Southampton back in the Autumn, but Pope thrived as the club’s first-choice, even earning a place in England’s World Cup squad to cap a remarkable breakthrough year.

Signing Pope will be easier said than done, however. The Mirror reported last month that Burnley were prepared to double his £15,000-a-week salary to keep him at Turf Moor.
