Chelsea flop Danny Drinkwater reportedly turned down West Ham United in the summer transfer window but is a move to the London Stadium still possible?

Danny Drinkwater might have already played his final game in Chelsea colours.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the England midfielder has struggled for game time in a Chelsea side also containing the considerable talents of Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, Cesc Fabregas, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Ross Barkley.

A £30 million signing from Leicester City in 2017, Drinkwater has made just one appearance since the start of the season; and that came in the Community Shield defeat to Manchester City back in August.

As a result, a January departure seems inevitable, with the former Manchester United youngster clearly not in Maurizio Sarri’s plans.

According to the Mail, West Ham United could be tempted to renew their interest next month despite the fact that Drinkwater turned down a move to the London Stadium in the summer, as reported by the Telegraph.

West Ham could be the perfect place for the 28-year-old to kick-start his career, given that injuries to both Jack Wilshere and Carlos Sanchez has left Manuel Pellegrini short of options in central midfield.

The Mail adds that a reunion with his former Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri at Fulham is also a possibility.
