Premier League giants Man United could loan out Victor Lindelof and bring West Brom defender Jonny Evans back to Old Trafford.

Would Jonny Evans be quite so in demand if it wasn’t for a £3 million relegation clause in his contract? No one can answer that for certain but, with West Brom about to drop into the Championship, the possibility of signing the Northern Irishman on a bargain deal certainly appeals to a number of Premier League clubs.

And, in a rare twist of fate, Manchester United have been tipped to re-sign Evans for half the price that they sold him for back in 2015.

According to the Mirror, United manager Jose Mourinho is keen to bolster his backline this summer and is considering bringing back a player who won three Premier League titles and the Champions League during his first spell at Old Trafford.

And The Sun has now added more meat to the bones, claiming that Evans could return to United this summer as a replacement for Victor Lindelof, who is expected to be loaned out after a difficult first season in England.

The Swede became the most expensive defender in Manchester United’s history last summer when he signed from Benfica for a fee in excess of £30 million, according to The Telegraph, but he has fallen down the pecking order since a 2-1 defeat to Huddersfield Town in the autumn in which he was at fault for the hosts’ second goal.

Lindelof has started just 12 Premier League games this season and The Sun believe he could be sent out on loan, possibly to another top flight side, though he does have a future at Old Trafford.

In the short term, though, Evans could be his immediate successor.
