West Bromwich Albion need strikers if they are to escape the Championship and Numancia front man Guillermo looks like a good option.
West Bromwich Albion appear to be stepping up their search for a new striker, as they aim to compensate for the increasingly likely departures of both Salomon Rondon and Jay Rodriguez.
The Sun reported back in March, when the Baggies were still a Premier League team, that they were interested in signing the Numancia striker Guillermo Fernandez Hierro. And, three months later, it seems that West Brom are now set to take their interest to the next level.
The report adds that Guillermo could be available for as little as £2 million, despite the fact he still has two years remaining on his contract with the Spanish second tier side.
Guillermo is unlikely to be the only striker West Brom would sign this summer amid ongoing links with the likes of Matej Vydra but, for that transfer fee, he could be a risk worth taking.
A former Athletic Bilbao and Eibar forward, Guillermo is known for his wily movement in the final third – though it must be pointed out that there is no shortage of strikers who have struggled to adapt in England’s second tier after arriving from Spain.
