Petros Mantalos to West Bromwich Albion could be back on in the January transfer window.

According to Sportime, the Baggies made a last-ditch bid to sign the AEK Athens star on loan in August, with a permanent deal worth around £9 million lined up should he impress at The Hawthorns.

The deal did not materialise at the time but, five months on, it seems that Mantalos is still a target for Darren Moore’s side.

SDNA have breathed fresh life into the rumours, claiming that West Brom are still interested and are expected to make a new bid for his services. Furthermore, Mantalos is understood to be open to a move to the English second tier.

An attacking midfielder, who has played most of his football on the left for AEK this season, the Greek international has scored three goals and set up four more in all competitions while playing in all six of his side’s Champions League group stage games.

Mantalos was integral as AEK won the Greek Super League title last season, ending Olympiakos’s domestic dominance with some stellar performances in the midfield.
