Jeremain Lens left League One Sunderland for Besiktas last month – but is reportedly on the radar of Championship outfit West Bromwich Albion.
Jeremain Lens might have endured a very disappointing spell with Sunderland but that has not stopped West Bromwich Albion from considering a move for the Dutch international.
Interestingly, Lens only finalised his £3 million permanent move to Besiktas from Sunderland just over a week ago, signing a contract until 2022. The 30-year-old scored just once in 13 Super Lig starts for the Istanbul giants in 2017/18, so it could prove to be a good decision if they manage to sell him for a profit almost immediately after buying him.
Lens is an enigmatic player who has found himself at the centre of plenty of controversies over the years for off-field matters and disciplinary issues but there is no doubting his talent.
There is a reason why he has won 34 caps for Holland – and why Sunderland paid £13 million to sign him from Dinamo Kiev back in 2015, as reported by The Mail.
Lens’ spell at the Stadium of Light, however, is perhaps best summed up by a 2-2 draw against West Ham three months into his debut season. The winger scored a stunning lob but was then sent off for two needless yellow cards.
Though if West Brom can harness him, they’ll have a huge talent on their hands.
