Premier League bottom club West Bromwich Albion missed out on Fenerbahce midfielder Josef de Souza last summer; will he ever come to The Hawthorns?

If West Bromwich Albion missed out on Josef de Souza when they were a settled Premier League side last summer, what are the chances of the Baggies luring the Brazilian midfielder to The Hawthorns with relegation to the Championship looking an inevitability?
According to the Express and Star, West Brom agreed a £10.6 million deal to sign Souza from Istanbul giants Fenerbahce last summer. But he rejected the move as he was concerned about a lack of game time, as reported by Turkish Football.

But the Midlands outfit are understood to have renewed their interest in the 29-year-old ahead of the summer transfer window.
The club’s new technical director, Gianluca Terraneo, could be key. It was him, after all, who brought Souza to Turkey from Sao Paulo in 2015 during his spell as a recruitment chief for Fenerbahce.
But CNN Turk believe that it would take a miracle for West Brom to pull off a deal to sign Terraneo this summer, which should perhaps come as no surprise.

After all, the Baggies are facing an uncertain future right now and, as it stands, will be heading into the Championship without a manager and embroiled in a worrying financial situation.
Fenerbahce, however, may be fourth in the Turkish Super Lig table but they are also just three points behind leaders Galatasaray.
