Allan Nyom is unlikely to be playing Championship football for West Bromwich Albion next season with a return to La Liga on the cards.
Allan Nyom appears to have played his last game for West Bromwich Albion, with the Express and Star reporting that he is in talks over a move to La Liga outfit Getafe.
And, to be honest, a 31-year-old full-back could do a lot worse in the autumn years of his career. Getafe might be one of the smaller teams in Spain’s top flight but they enjoyed arguably the best season in their history last time out, finishing fifth and qualifying for the Europa League after a prolonged flirtation with the top four.
So, if all things go to plan, Nyom could leave a club in the English Championship to play in continental competition for a team based in the picturesque capital city of Madrid. It’s alright for some.
A £3 million signing from Watford in 2016, as reported by the Express and Star, the versatile defender was a key figure under Tony Pulis but he’s fallen down the pecking order in recent times.
Nyom even spent last season on loan at Leganes and it is presumably there where he managed to catch the eye of Getafe.
Whether West Brom are making the right decision letting Nyom go, however, is another matter. With Mason Holgate, Craig Dawson and Tosin Adarabioyo all leaving The Hawthorns this summer, The Baggies have lost three players capable of playing at right-back.
