Championship outfit West Bromwich Albion are reportedly desperate to sign Rangers captain James Tavernier – and Sam Field could be loaned to Ibrox.

It has been clear all summer that West Brom want a right-back and it seems that they have now turned their attentions to Rangers captain James Tavernier.
TEAMtalk reports that West Brom have made a £3 million bid to sign the Ibrox favourite. And though Steven Gerrard is desperate to keep his newly-appointed skipper in Glasgow, the report adds that Rangers have told The Baggies they can sign Tavernier if they offer £7 million.
And it seems that West Brom have a trick up their sleeve to sweeten the deal.
The Guardian (live blog, 11.11am) is reporting that the Midland club could send Sam Field on loan to Ibrox as part of the deal that would see Tavernier return to English football.
20-year-old Field is an excellent prospect but has struggled for first-team opportunities so would benefit immensely from a temporary move elsewhere. The highly-rated midfielder could surely only improve under the stewardship of Steven Gerrard.

A classy and composed footballer, the boyhood Baggie has impressed almost whenever he has been given the opportunity, scoring his first Premier League goal against Newcastle back in November.
Though it is far from guaranteed that he’d find starts easier to come by at Rangers, who have signed Lassana Coulibaly, Scott Arfield and Ovie Ejaria already this summer.
