Yuning Zhang has not made a single appearance for Championship outfit West Bromwich Albion since arriving from the Eredivisie.

Did West Bromwich Albion pay £6 million for a player who is destined never to play for The Baggies? Well it doesn’t look good for Yuning Zhang if he wants to force his way into the club’s plans in the near future.

West Brom caused a shock when they brought the China international to The Hawthorns in the summer of 2017 from Dutch outfit Vitesse Arnhem.

The Baggies immediately loaned Zhang out to Werder Bremen but, the Express and Star reports, the Bundesliga side cancelled his two-year loan spell after just 12 months after he failed to make a single league appearance.

Zhang is now back in the Eredivisie with ADO Den Haag but only made his debut this weekend, coming off the bench against PEC Zwolle for his first senior appearance since 2017.

And the Express and Star is now reporting that the 21-year-old could be discarded without ever making an appearance for West Brom. The report explains that Zhang cannot play in England because of work permit issues and that is unlikely to change any time soon.

So this doesn’t exactly look like £6 million well spent.
