Tony Pulis is looking long-term and 18-year-old Myles Phipps could play a big part in West Brom’s future.
West Bromwich Albion have taken teenage winger Myles Phipps on trial, the Birmingham Mail reports, as Tony Pulis aims to add an extra dash of youth to his squad.
The 18-year-old attacker plies his trade with Paget Rangers in the Midland Football League but could make the substantial step up to The Baggies’ development squad if he impresses throughout his week-long trial.
The Birmingham Mail report that Phipps’ performances had alerted a number of clubs to his talents although West Brom, who have monitored the highly-rated wideman for some time, now appear favourites to swoop for his signature.
Reported West Brom target to commit future elsewhere; is he good enough for Pulis?
This comes as Pulis continues to scour the non-league market for future first-team talents.

A number of the club’s most eye-catching young players, including cultured midfielder Sam Field and razor sharp winger Jonathan Leko, made their senior debuts inside the last 12 months.
Despite questionable goal record, striker would be better West Brom signing than Odion Ighalo
And the latter appears the perfect example for Phipps to follow if he does indeed earn himself a deal at the Hawthorns.

Leko may be a year younger and may have had the added advantage of rising through the ranks since the age of 11 but Pulis has been impressed by the teenager’s application and mentality, handing him a number of cameo appearances.
