Championship hopefuls West Bromwich Albion and Ipswich Town reportedly want the Arsenal defender with Burnley also in the race.
West Bromwich Albion and Burnley have expressed an interest in Arsenal right-back Carl Jenkinson but he looks set to stay at The Emirates until the end of the season, according to the Mirror.
The 26-year-old has gone from one of Arsenal’s most promising youngsters into something of a forgotten man with three of his five appearances under Unai Emery coming in the Europa League group stage.
But the cruciate ligament injury suffered by Hector Bellerin in last week’s win against Chelsea, which has ruled the Spaniard out for the rest of 2018/19, has opened the door for Jenkinson to salvage his Gunners career.
According to the Mirror, Emery has been impressed with the former Charlton Athletic ace’s attitude in training. And Jenkinson could now fight Ainsley Maitland-Niles and the ailing Stephan Lichtsteiner for a place in the starting XI.
This will come as a blow to both West Brom and Burnley, who were keen to offer the former England international an escape route this month. Ipswich Town were also interested, but it seems unlikely that Jenkinson would leave Arsenal for the club bottom of the Championship.
West Brom’s interest comes amid reports that Tosin Adarabioyo could be re-called by Manchester City, according to the Birmingham Mail.
