Sheffield United paid £500k to sign Simon Moore from Cardiff City in 2016 – now Championship outfit West Bromwich Albion hope to land him for less.

It seems Sheffield United are well prepared for the possible departure of goalkeeper Simon Moore, with Dean Henderson signing on loan from Manchester United and the experienced Luke Steele arriving at Brammal Lane on trial.
Which is just as well. Because West Bromwich Albion are allegedly going all out to make the 28-year-old their third goalkeeper signing of the summer. The Mail (live blog, 9.54am) claimed on Thursday that the Baggies have now made a bid after holding talks.
And latest reports provided by the Sheffield Star shine further light on the situation and suggest that a move to The Hawthorns is indeed on the cards.
It is understood that Moore is now in the final year of his contract with the Blades having postponed negotiations over a new deal time and again. The Star points out that Sheffield United put Moore’s future on the back-burner last season while fighting for the top six, and did the same again at the start of this summer when they were focused instead on bringing in new signings.

Now, this could be about to bite them. Because it is reported that West Brom will attempt to exploit the situation by offering considerably less than the £500,000 Sheffield United paid to sign Moore from Cardiff two years ago.
And, thanks to their £90 million parachute payments, the Baggies can afford to offer him a considerable pay rise, too.
Moore is likely to fight with Jonathan Bond for the number two spot behind Sam Johnstone should he move to West Brom.
