Aston Villa have nabbed Irish starlet Tyreik Wilson – after he rejected their Midland and Championship rivals Birmingham, according to reports.

After a nightmare start to the summer, Aston Villa needed a boost like this.
16-year-old Tyreik Wright isn’t exactly the kind of statement signing the fans were dreaming of right now but the way Villa won the race for his signature should give the supporters something to smile about at last.
Wright has spent time at Villa on trial for the last two years and had finally put pen to paper, inking a scholarship deal with Steve Bruce’s side.
And The Irish Examiner reports that Wright even rejected a move to Villa’s local rivals Birmingham City in order to wear the famous claret and blue kit.
It is understood that the facilities, player structure and famed academy system at Villa Park were the reasons why Wright decided to choose Steve Bruce’s side.

Aston Villa boast one of the most prosperous academy systems in English football right now, with the likes of Callum O’Hare and Rushian Hepburn-Murphy headlining a talented crop of youngsters tipped for big things in the near future.
Wright, who has represented Ireland with distinction at U15 level, will be in good company.
A rapid left-winger, Wright told The Irish Examiner: “Getting trialled with Aston Villa was probably the best moment of my life. That is until I was offered the contract.”
