Werder Bremen’s Bundesliga captain Max Kruse is reportedly a target for Premier League duo Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace.
Tottenham Hotspur will send scouts to watch Werder Bremen captain Max Kruse at the weekend, while Crystal Palace are also interested in the gifted striker, according to German publication Deich Stube.
Three years ago, the much-travelled forward returned to the club where he made his senior debut after spells at Freiburg, Wolfsburg and Borussia Monchengladbach. And he is currently playing the best football of his life at the Weserstadion.
Kruse has scored 11 goals and produced 14 assists from a free role in Werder Bremen’s attack, though his future is up in the air given that his contract is due to expire at the end of the season.
Sky broke the news recently that Tottenham are interested in making a rather left-field signing and Deich Stube have poured fuel on the fire, claiming that Mauricio Pochettino’s side are planning to run the rule over the 31-year-old when Werder face off against Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich in the next few days.
Kruse is far from the typical Tottenham signing, but the report claims the Premier League outfit see him as an affordable addition to a strike force which remains worryingly lacking in depth.
Crystal Palace are interested in the 14-time Germany international, too, with Roy Hodgson’s side likely to lose Michy Batshuayi when his loan spell from Chelsea comes to an end.
But it seems that Spurs are leading the chase as it stands.
