Primeira Liga leaders FC Porto could be forced to sell Ricardo Pereira this summer with Premier League giants Spurs keeping an eye on the situation.
It seems that Ricardo Pereira is still on Tottenham Hotspur’s radar.
The Porto right-back was one of the names in the frame to replace Kyle Walker once the England international joined Manchester City last summer for £50 million but the Portuguese outfit refused Spurs’ £13.2 million bid, according to O Jogo.
Considering that Pereira, who had spent the previous campaign on loan at Nice, had a release clause in his contract worth £22 million, it is no surprise that Tottenham’s offer was given the short shrift.
But according to A Bola (21st March, page 6), the London giants are still keeping an eye on the 24-year-old. It is understood that Pereira’s contract expires in the summer of 2019 and Porto may be willing to cash in should they receive a good offer this summer.
The versatile Portuguese star, who can play on the right or the left, has been one of the first names on Sergio Conceicao’s team-sheet this season and has started 20 Primeira Liga games, his two goals and three assists helping Porto to the top of the table.
Porto need to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations, however, and will thus be forced to sell one or two of their key players this summer with Vincent Aboubakar and Yacine Brahimi among those also facing uncertain futures at the Dragao.
So if Tottenham make a better offer than £13.2 million this time around, who is to say they will not get their man?
