Borja Iglesias has been a revelation in La Liga this season with Espanyol and a move to Tottenham Hotspur could be on the cards.
Espanyol faced a difficult task in the summer when Gerard Moreno left for Villarreal. But, since Borja Igleseas arrived from Celta Vigo, he has stepped up in style to replace the departed ‘Periquitos’ talisman.
Iglesias has scored six goals in ten La Liga starts for Espanyol, taking to the top flight in style after a prolific loan spell at Real Zaragoza in 2017/18.
And it seems that the 25-year-old’s rise is only set to continue. According to El Gol Digital, Mauricio Pochettino is aiming to raid his former employers for the in-form striker, with the report adding that Tottenham Hotspur could move to trigger Igleseas’ £25 million release clause.
It is understood that, should Igleseas arrive, the out-of-favour Fernando Llorente would bid farewell after a year-and-a-half in North London. A return to Athletic Bilbao is on the cards, El Gol Digital report, for the former Spain international.
Llorente, like Vincent Janssen before him, has failed to provide genuine competition for Harry Kane at Tottenham with Pochettino still over-reliant on his prolific number ten.
