Tottenham Hotspur reportedly want Ajax talisman Ziyech, Sporting Lisbon’s Bruno Fernandes, Roma’s Lorenzo Pellegrini or Celta Vigo’s Brais Mendez.

Tottenham Hotspur are making preparations for Christian Eriksen’s seemingly inevitable exit with 90Min claiming that Ajax star Hakim Ziyech, not to mention Brais Mendez, Bruno Fernandes and Lorenzo Pellegrini, have been lined up as potential replacements.

Eriksen is certainly playing right now like a man who wants to be anywhere other than North London. The Dane is out of contract at the end of the season and, amid ongoing links with Real Madrid, he could hardly look less interested at Spurs with Mauricio Pochettino’s side slipping ever further down the Premier League table.

A January exit now appears to be on the cards with 90Min reporting that Tottenham are drawing up plans to bring Ziyech to England in the New Year. The Moroccan international already has six goals and 15 assists to his name this season and ripped apart Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in last week’s staggering 4-4 Champions League draw.

Blessed with outstanding set-piece ability and the penchant to find the back of the net from any angle and any range, there are certainly a lot of comparisons to be made between Ziyech and peak Eriksen.

90Min claims that, should Ajax stand firm, Tottenham could move for Roma’s all-action midfielder Pellegrini, Sporting Lisbon captain Bruno Fernandes or Celta Vigo’s left-footed play-maker Mendez.

22-year-old Mendez has endured a difficult start to the season with his side struggling in La Liga and it is a year now since he won his one and only Spain cap, scoring the winner against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In truth, Mendez has done little in the last 12 months to suggest he is ready to make a big step forward with a club like Tottenham.
