Jann Fiete Arp will leave Hamburg if, or when, they are relegated from the Bundesliga and Spurs are keen to lure him to the Premier League.

There haven’t been too many positives for Hamburg to take in a season which looks increasingly likely to result in their first ever relegation from Germany’s top flight.

‘The dinosaur’ are seven points adrift of the Bundesliga relegation play-off position and facing extinction, though at least Jann Fiete Arp has given supporters something to smile about at times.

The 18-year-old exploded onto the scene with a goal that made him the first player born in the 21st century to score in the Bundesliga and has impressed with movement, speed of thought and predatory instinct well beyond his tender years.

But according to Bild, the chances of Arp remaining a Hamburg player after their seemingly inevitable relegation are very slim indeed.

Tottenham Hotspur, a club where young players go to become world beaters, have been linked for some time and Bild believes they will now intensify their efforts with Hamburg looking doomed.

Despite the teenager’s contract expiring in the summer of 2019, it is understood that Spurs would have to pay more than £10 million to get their man. Fortunately, however, Bild add that Arp has been a Tottenham fan since childhood and they remain his go-to PlayStation pick.

Jann-Fiete Arp of Germany U17 has an effort on goal during the U17 Algarve Cup Tournament Match between England U17 and Germany U17 on February 12, 2017 in Albufeira, Portugal.

Arp’s agent, Jurgen Milewski, also has good contacts in England and engineered the sale of another Bundesliga wonderkid, Leroy Sane, to Manchester City in the summer of 2016.

Bild claims that Bayern Munich have suddenly entered the race, meaning Tottenham’s task has just got harder, but there are few better managers than Mauricio Pochettino to turn Arp into a star.
