Alex Telles impressed as Porto won the Primeira Liga title and that could reportedly earn him a move to the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur.

As the Premier League season came to an end, Mauricio Pochettino appeared to indicate that he might have taken Tottenham Hotspur as far as he can.

But instead of angling for a move to one of Europe’s bona fide super-clubs, the Argentine boss has hunkered down and signed a five-year deal at Spurs instead as he looks to drag the Premier League’s nearly-men to the elusive next level.

And to make Pochettino’s task a lot easier, chairman Daniel Levy will have to spend this summer, particularly with a new top quality left-back high on the agenda.

With Danny Rose seemingly on his way out, Sky Sports are reporting that Spurs are in the market for a new left-sided player this summer with the coveted Fulham teenager Ryan Sessegnon their top target, followed closely by Celtic’s homegrow favourite Kieran Tierney.

It is understood that Pochettino is also a fan of Southampton’s Ryan Bertrand.

But now there is a new name in the frame – Porto’s Brazilian flyer Alex Telles. The 25-year-old has blossomed into one of Europe’s finest left-backs since he moved to Porto from Galatasaray in 2016 and shone as Sergio Conceicao’s men won the Primeira Liga title for the first time in five years last season.

Telles assisted 20 goals in 45 games in all competitions but was still left out of Brazil’s World Cup squad.

The one-time Inter Milan loanee could be a more straightforward option than the likes of Tierney and Sessegnon, with Financial Fair Play forcing Porto to sell a number of their key players this summer. Telles will not come cheap, however, with O Jogo stating in January that he is valued at around £30 million.
