Norwich City want over £20m for Max Aarons but Mauricio Pochettino’s Premier League strugglers Spurs are crying out for a new right-back.
Tottenham Hotspur are considering making a move for Norwich City full-back Max Aarons in the January transfer window with Mauricio Pochettino keen to inject some pace and energy into his side at the earliest opportunity, according to The Mail.
This is despite Aarons signing a new contract at Norwich just this past summer.
Spurs thrashed Red Star Belgrade 5-0 in Tuesday’s Champions League group-stage clash with a performance full of tenacity and speed, reminiscent of their 2014-2017 vintage.
But displays like this have been few and far between of late with Spurs’ looking a shadow of their former selves during a dismal run of form, which has included an EFL Cup defeat to Colchester and a 7-2 home defeat to Bayern Munich.
As a result, Pochettino already has big plans for the mid-season with a new right-back high on his list of priorities. Serge Aurier remains as erratic as ever and Kyle Walker-Peters appears to have slipped out of favour with Spurs once again taking a close look at a youngster who has thrilled supporters in East Anglia over the last year or so.
19-year-old Aarons is pretty much the prime example of a typical Tottenham signing, young, hungry and possessing boundless energy. The rampaging right-back shone as Norwich won the Championship title last season and he’s adapted to life in the Premier League impressively.
The Canaries won’t let their academy graduate go on the cheap, however, with The Mail claiming earlier in the year that he is valued in excess of £20 million.
