Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes could be set to choose West Ham United over London rivals Spurs.

We could be heading for a deadline day showdown between Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United over the future of a European Championship winning midfielder.
The Portuguese international has been made available by the La Liga giants for a season-long loan just a year after he arrived from Valencia for a fee of £41.7 million, as reported by The Mail.

And a move to the Premier League beckons with Gomes wanting to play first-team football this season and new Barca coach Ernesto Valverde forcing him down the pecking order following the arrival of Paulinho and Sergi Roberto’s return to a midfield role.
According to The Mail (live blog, 13.47pm) West Ham have an advantage over Spurs, despite finishing nine places below them in the Premier League table last season and starting the new campaign with three consecutive defeats.
Gomes is understood to be leaning towards a move to the London Stadium, thanks in part to the fact that he is very close friends with Hammers’ centre-back Jose Fonte, who was also an integral part of Portugal’s Euro 2016 winning squad.

Furthermore, with the Hammers ending their pursuit of Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho due to an inability to agree a fee, as reported by The Daily Record, it appears they will go all out to sign his international teammate.
