Tom Bayliss shone as Coventry City stunned Stoke and now has admirers from the Premier League and Championship with Spurs and Derby impressed.
Coventry City have an excellent track record when it comes to bringing through young talent.
And it seems only a matter of time before Tom Bayliss follows Callum Wilson, George Thomas and co in earning a move to a club higher up the footballing ladder.
According to The Mail ( 08/01/20108 13.04pm), that move could come sooner rather than later with Tottenham Hotspur keen on signing an 18-year-old who only made his senior debut in November.
Bayliss, who has shone in his eight appearances in Coventry colours, played a major role as the League Two side created arguably the biggest upset of the FA Cup third round on Saturday, knocking out top flight Stoke City and costing Mark Hughes his job.
The teenager played the full 90 minutes at the Ricoh Arena and stood out in the centre of the park. So much so that a Spurs side renowned for turning promising youngsters into top level talents are monitoring his progress under Mark Robins.
They are not the only ones. Championship side Derby County, who have been looking lower down the echelons of English football for potential stars of the future, have also been impressed by Bayliss’s pace, composure and passing range, The Mail adds.
Gary Rowett’s Rams are second in the Championship and seemingly set for a bright future. And Bayliss would probably have a better chance of maintaining first-team football if he moved to Derby rather than Spurs, who may want him to prove his worth in the second string first.
