Watford want a left-back on deadline day but could Javi Gracia’s side snap up Danny Rose from Tottenham Hotspur?

Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose could be on his way to Watford before the transfer window slams shut at 5:00pm this evening, according to the Mail (11.12am).

With 35-year-old Jose Holebas and the out-of-favour Adam Masina Watford’s current options at left-back, the Hornets are making a late move to bring some reinforcements to Vicarage Road before it’s too late.

The Mail (10.44am) claims that the FA Cup runners-up have agreed a fee to sign Germany international Marvin Plattenhardt from Hertha Berlin.

But while Plattenhardt is a fine full-back and a brilliant set-piece taker, Rose would be a far more high-profile addition. After all, he’s not only a Premier League veteran and an England international but a Champions League finalist too.

Watford’s hopes surely depend on whether Tottenham finally, finally bring Ryan Sessegnon from North London from Fulham, however.

Sky claimed on Wednesday that Spurs had agreed a £30 million fee for Mauricio Pochettino’s long-time target but things have gone eerily quiet since then.

Yet if both deals go through, both Tottenham and Watford will be thrilled with their deadline-day business and rightly so.
