A number of big Premier League teams, reportedly Spurs, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City, are all interested in Gavin Bazunu.
The vast majority of Tottenham Hotspur fans have been left very frustrated by the club’s lack of transfer activity this summer so it’s not an easy task persuading them to get excited about the potential arrival of a 16-year-old goalkeeper.
But Gavin Bazunu could be a real coup of a signing, even if he’s not perhaps the world class midfielder or the prolific Harry Kane rival the supporters were dreaming of.
The Irish Independent is reporting that Spurs have made a bid of around £180,000 for Bazunu, the teenage star of Shamrock Rovers. At just 16, he has already ousted Northern Ireland international Alan Mannus and conceded just twice in six first-team appearances.
Bazunu even started both legs of the 2-1 Europa League qualifier defeat to Swedish outfit AIK last month.
The report adds that Manchester City and Chelsea are both fans of Bazunu too while Scottish Premiership champions Celtic are waiting in the wings. Fortunately, Liverpool appear to have cooled their interest with Jurgen Klopp impressed with his own young goalkeepers, Kamil Grabara (below) and Caoimhin Kelleher.
It is reported that Tottenham will offer Bazunu a four-year deal, though the teenager is expected to remain in Ireland until he completes his school exams next summer.
The Irish Independent add that Spurs are the first team to make a serious offer with a bid from Norwich City understood to be much lower.
